So much fun, so little time for blogging!

My goodness, we've been busy around here! This year has started out with a really fast pace...hopefully it slows down soon, so we can enjoy it a little more! :)

Ruston went with me a couple weeks ago when I got my hair done.  Jennifer had time to give him a little trim, too. :)  She just shaped it a little and got it off of his ears.  As you can see, he still isn't a fan of hair cuts.  He did better than last time though.
These things might have had something to do with it.... M&M's!! I am most definitely NOT above bribery! haha

We had some cold weather earlier this month. (Although today, it is almost 80 degrees!!)  We've been putting the fireplace to good use.  Ruston likes to look at the fire.  I probably won't use it for a while though.... I forgot to open the damper last time and let it burn for like 3 hours.  Ruston and I didn't notice, but Danny came in and said the house smelled like gas. And now the rock right above the fireplace is all black because the smoke had nowhere to go. Yikes. My bad. :/

We hadn't gotten to see Mom/Grandma in a while. So Ruston and I met her, Stephen, and Audrey @ El Maguey for dinner last Friday.

Then Saturday, we got to go to the PBR Event at the Rodeo! This rodeo clown is Leon Coffee.  I remember him from the rodeos when I was younger.  We were talking to my Grandpa, and he guesses Leon's probably in his 60's! He's still so funny, though, and he can still do the splits!!
Ruston sat in my Dad's lap most of the night.  He couldn't decide if he liked Leon or not.  But boy, did he have his eye on him!
He really had a great time.  He watched the arena the whole night. At one point he was even trying to climb over the rails and down into the dirt. :)
It was just a preliminary event, so not too many of the riders actually stayed on the full 8 seconds.  It was still fun though!
Family pic before leaving.
Ruston giving Benda a nice little slap in the face.
Big Family pic! It was also Adam's birthday that night!  Doesn't he look handsome in a cowboy hat? :)

Everyone in Danny's family has an obsession with ketchup.  Ruston is definitely a Glass, because he LOVES it too!  Last week I taught him how to dip his chicken nuggets in the ketchup.
He did really well! Eventually though, he was just sucking the ketchup off and dipping again, instead of eating the chicken. lol

Last night we went to Catfish Parlour for Dallas' birthday.  They had a jukebox that was sitting right behind our table.  Ruston liked looking at the lights and pushing the buttons.
He transferred his awesome ketchup dipping skills to the gravy last night! :)

I also have to give a shout out to my BFF, Leslie!  She had a big birthday bash last night and I'm so sad I couldn't be there. :(  Hope you had fun, my friend! Miss you tons.

Sixteen

I feel terrible that I haven't gotten this post up sooner! My big boy is growing and changing everyday.  I almost feel like I can't call him a baby anymore!! :(

At 16 months, Ruston.......

still has a great love for cars, trucks, tractors, and anything that moves! His collection seems to grow by the day.  He's got cars all over the house! :)

He is a big fan of his doggie tent.  Earlier today, he was in there tearing apart reading a flying magazine. He likes when we go in there with him, too.  He jumps, climbs, and rolls all over us.
We've got his pillow pets in there now too.  He'll go in and lay down, but that only lasts a few seconds. :)

HE SLEEPS!!!! Can you believe it?!? A few days before his 16 month bday, he started sleeping through the night.  It was so strange, we didn't do anything different, it just happened.  Every once in a while, he'll wake up once, but he's back asleep within minutes.  This is such a relief, because the lack of sleep was really starting to catch up to me!

He hasn't been the greatest eater this month.  He seems to have become more picky and isn't really into as much as he used to be.  His portions have definitely dropped too.  He's by no means a big or chubby boy, so I'm really bummed about this.  Hopefully it'll pick back up soon.

Bathtime is still fun.  He's got a little basketball hoop in there now that he likes to throw all his toys in.  The other day he stayed in the bathtub for 45 minutes! Talk about a prune. :)

We got him a little table and chair set.  He's gotten to where he will "color" now, so I wanted him to have a place to sit.  Only problem? He likes to climb and stand up on the table.  Geez.  Little daredevil.

He can now show you where his "nelly nutton" (belly button) and tongue is. haha.  He can stick it out really far!

He has started saying a few words!  He's a professional "no" sayer.  It's really funny, sometimes he'll even shake his head as he says it. :)  His first "official" word came a few days before his 16 month bday....are you ready for this? It was "Dallas." haha! We're pretty sure he's said ball and bird, too, but it hasn't been consistent.

The boy does not slow down! He is all over the place.  We have to keep the bedroom and bathroom doors shut, so we contain him to one space! ha! Otherwise, he wanders off and we're looking for him forever.  He will even wander into a dark room.  He is definitely not scared of the dark! The other day I heard him close our bedroom door.  I walked over and opened it up.... it was completely dark in there and he was just standing there, smiling! Goofy boy.

Ruston is a climber! We don't mind when he climbs up into his chair.  But when he climbs on the fireplace, table, stroller thats parked in the corner...it gets to be a problem. Can't take our eyes off of him for a minute!

He is a cowboy at heart! He drives his tractor all over the house.  I had to snap a few pics of him with his Wranglers and boots on. :)
Check out his new camo boots!! :)

Busy Bees

Well, I'm glad I didn't decide to participate in the Blog 365... (where you blog every day of 2011)... I obviously would have failed miserably. :)

We've had some exciting things going on the last 2 weekends...
Last Saturday we went to Miss Kenzie's 3rd birthday party.
She had a bounce house that I finally convinced Ruston to try out.  He wasn't too into it.  He just sat there and let everyone around him bounce. haha

After Kenzie opened presents, they pulled one of the big fire engines around and let the kids get in.

They were all so tired, but they enjoyed it!

I had a pretty crazy week...training in Austin until 8 on Wednesday, Science Night @ the school until 7 on Thursday, and then a FANTABULOUS concert Friday night! Danny and I went with Joe David and Melanie to see George Strait and Reba McIntire.  Leanne Womack opened up for them.

Reba was fantastic! She sang a lot of her old songs, which we liked.  When she sang the TV show theme song, Barbara Jean came out on stage. So funny! She even made a joke about the Pink Monkey. ha!

Danny and JD used their charm to get all the way to the bottom floor! Now you have to understand, we were way up top, 4 rows from touching the ceiling. lol. So for them to get down that close was pretty impressive.  Melanie and I didn't even believe them until they came back and showed us the pictures. :)

George was super too, but definitely not as big a performer as Reba.  Still one handsome man, though.

We've been resting up the rest of the weekend.  Danny had a little too much fun at the concert. haha. We went shopping today and I cashed in all of my gift cards and Christmas money for a brand new CAMERA!! I'm really excited to start playing with it! Tomorrow Ruston turns 16 months old, so he'll have to do a photo shoot for me. :)

Fill in the Blanks and a Flashback!

Found a new blog hop that sounds fun!

Winter is so cold! I'm not a big fan. :/

Summer is warm and sunny and the perfect time to be outside!

If it were summer instead of winter right now, I'd be sitting on the balcony at the beach with a beer in hand. :)

My favorite thing to do in winter is start a fire, grab some hot cocoa, and curl up on the couch in a blanket. (Not that I get to do that much with a crazy pooper running around!)

My favorite thing to do in summer is hang out near some type of water and enjoy the warm weather!

The ideal outfit for a sunny summer day is a bathing suit and flip flops.

The ideal outfit for a frigid winter day is a cute sweater and a scarf!

Head on over to The Little Things We Do to read more bloggers' responses!

And now for the Flashback!  My great friends, Scott and Rebekah will celebrate their 6th anniversary tomorrow! They were my first friends to get married. :)  They are expecting a baby girl at the beginning of May.

Congrats, Scott & Bek! Love y'all!

Happy New Year!

I can't believe that it is already 2011.  I swear, 2010 was the fastest year of my life. Many fantastic memories. :)
Ruston and I relaxed all day New Year's Eve.  We got off our lazy bums for a little bit though, to make Firecracker Cupcakes.  I did the icing, he did the sprinkles.
His favorite part was shoving the entire thing into his mouth. :)

We dropped Ruston off at Danny's parents house for a few hours so that we could go to dinner and a movie.  We didn't leave quite as early as we'd planned, so our dinner date was at Taco Cabana. ha! That's OK, I love that place.  We went and saw Little Fockers.
It was goofy, but so were the rest of the Focker movies, so I wasn't expecting much more. :)
We made it back to Danny's parents around 11:40, just in time to have some champagne and count down to the new year.  (Danny fell asleep on the couch right at 12:03. haha!)

New Year's Day we went over to Danny's Nana's house for lunch.  We both made sure to eat our black eyed peas and cabbage....can't ever have too much luck or money! ha.

Nana pulled out Danny's old "rocking horse."  Ruston had a good time bouncing around on it.

He liked it well enough to give it kisses!
I'm looking forward to a new year and new adventures!!
