Adios, Summer!

Summer is officially over for us. :(  I had a great summer with my boy!  I'm so thankful that my job allows me to have summers off.  The time I was able to spend with Ruston was precious and priceless.  Moments I will cherish forever.

We had a swimming playdate last week over at MeeMaw's house.
Silly kiddos.
They had their own little lunch date too.  Ruston looks like a ladies man... all his friends are girls! haha

Danny's cousin, Ryan, asked Ruston to be his ring bearer for his upcoming wedding.  How handsome is this little man getting fitted for his tux?
In Highland Village, where the tux store is, they have these stone horses.  I remember thinking they were so cool when I was younger. Ruston allowed me to live vicariously through him and rode one for me. :)

Today was Ruston's first day at his new school.  I'm so excited about it because I think he's really going to learn a lot.  This is his classroom.  It's set up with all kinds of centers and rugs and little tables.
Here he is, ready to go this morning!  He looks so big.
He got a new John Deere lunch box for this school year. :)  He had a great first day.  When I picked him up this afternoon, he had no interest in leaving.  He saw me and just went right on with what he was doing. (Dipping animal crackers in his water cup and then setting them on the table.  Apparently he was washing them.... they were a big gooey mess.)  His teacher, Ms. Jenna said he did great and played well all day.  She complimented his speech and said he did awesome going potty all day.  He was still in the same clothes I dropped him off in... success!

Water Play

We spent a lot of time in the water last week!

On August 8th, Danny and I celebrated our 4th anniversary!  We had reservations to stay at the Hyatt in Bastrop, the night before (Tuesday).  We had car trouble (with both cars!) and ended up having to borrow Kathie's car for the night.  We were starving, so we stopped at Chili's on the way.  We didn't actually get into our room until like 9pm!
Our room was so nice... and huge! It had 2 separate rooms that were each a pretty big size.  There were flowers, a fruit basket, and a bottle of champagne waiting for us.
Danny went downstairs and grabbed some orange juice for mimosas!
Danny had to leave first thing the next morning to take his mom's car back and pick ours up.  I stayed in the room, made some coffee, and headed to the balcony to do some Bible study work.  It was so relaxing! (Except for the random family that kept having bike catastrophe's and screaming as they fell. ha!)
Our car still wasn't ready when Danny got to Elgin. :/  He ended up having to come back in Dillon's truck.   Ruston came along and we went out to the water area.  They have got the neatest little set up going on down there.  Ruston played in the splash pad and kiddie pool area for a little bit.
Then we moved on to the Lazy River.  We floated around twice and he was ready to do something else.
They have a beach area! If we come back, we'll have to bring sand toys.  The sticks and rocks didn't last as long for entertainment. :)
Showing off our fancy hotel wristbands back at home.
Once the car was finally ready, we packed it up and headed to the beach!  I had initially wanted to make it down there in time to have a drink (or 2) where we got married, but it was too dark. :/  The next morning we packed our lunches and headed to the sand.
Bubba played hard and then napped hard too!
He's going to kill me, but I have to include this... I told Danny not to sit at the head of the chair because he was going to break it.  He didn't listen.  He broke it. :)
Friday we headed into Corpus to meet my parents.  They always stop at Hooter's on their way into town and that definitely sounded good!  It was a pretty laid back day... we didn't really do much other than eat and nap. :)  Adam and Audrey got in late that night.

Saturday we went down to the beach again.  The Port Royal crew walked down and met us for a little while.
Miss Blythe wasn't completely sold on the beach thing.  She'll love it next year!
Bekah and I got some sun.
 The girls...
 ...and the guys.
After his nap, this little dude got a Ninja Turtle ice cream!!

After nap and ice cream, we packed up and drove over to Port Royal.  The pools there are incredible.
 Getting some more sun
We showered up and headed out for dinner Saturday night.

 Love this little boy.
Early Sunday morning, the boys got up and went fishing for red fish.
They caught 55 pounds worth of fish!
Ruston, Audrey, and I spent the morning at the pool again.  Pops swam this little boy around for hours!
We had a blast!  It was our last trip of the summer, but hopefully we'll be making some fall trips this year.  :)

Monster Jam!

The Monster Jam trucks came to town this weekend!!  Ruston is completely obsessed with Monster trucks.  We went in February to a show, but it wasn't the big, popular trucks.  We were pretty excited about seeing GraveDigger and Grinder!
Dad, Benda, and Andrew took Ruston and I.  Danny was supposed to come too, but couldn't get off work.  Luckily, Tyler was able to come and use his ticket!
There wasn't much room in the arena...so the trucks couldn't do all the cool tricks we've seen on TV.  But they were still able to do a wheelie contest!
We wore our headsets!

Ruston was totally into the wheelie competition.  He kept pointing and wouldn't take his eyes off the trucks.  Except to turn and ask if we saw that! :)
The donut competition was pretty fun too.  It's crazy how many donuts those trucks can do without stopping.

Last up was the free style round.  We're going to have to find a show in a bigger arena.  It was cool, but we want to see the tricks they do on TV.

After the show, the drivers had an autograph session.
Ruston got his program signed by the six drivers that were there - Grave Digger, Grinder, Monster Mutt Dalmation, El Toro Loco, El Matador, and King Krunch.
Once we got back to Dad's house, Ruston modeled his new Monster Jam gear.  This fancy Grave Digger hat came with the cotton candy.
And he got a World Tour shirt that is big enough to wear for a few years! :)
Thanks Pops, Mo, and Andrew for a super fun day!!
