How is it possible...

...that it is already Christmas season again?!?  I swear, it creeps up on me every year.

Last year I really wanted to get Ruston an "Elf on the Shelf", but I knew he just wasn't ready.  I was so excited to get one this year! We went and picked him up at Barnes and Noble the week before Thanksgiving.  We spent the day after Thanksgiving decorating the house and getting the tree put up.  That night, we watched the new Elf Story special on TV.  And then out came our elf!  His first "hiding spot" was on the mantle.  Ruston caught on right away.  While he doesn't necessarily get the whole naughty/nice thing, he does believe that "Chippey" goes back to talk to Santa every night and he enjoys looking for him each day.

December is always a very busy month for us and this year is proving to be no exception!  On December 2nd, our friends Jim and Amanda got married.  I rode with Kali and Kristen out to the wedding.  It was so pretty with all the Christmas lights and candles!
Saturday we had our first Christmas event of the year.  It was hard to find a date that would work for our Voelker/Fiebig Christmas exchange, so we did it pretty early.
Elgin was supposed to have it's Christmas parade that night, but it got rained out. :/  Luckily, there were lights out at the park and activities at Ruston's school, so we still got to have some Christmas fun.
Scott, Bekah, and Blythe met us downtown and then we ran into Megan, Kenzie and Braelynn at the church.
We made bookmarks, gingerbread men, Christmas bags, and look at this cute ornament!
Voelker/Fiebig Christmas was great.  I love that it keeps getting just a little bigger each year.

We started another Christmas tradition with Ruston this year.  I actually found the idea on Pinterest (obsessed, by the way!).  I wrapped all of Ruston's Christmas books and brought some more home from school.  Each night he chooses one from under the tree and opens it.  That's our bedtime story for the night!
