It's been forever since I've had the time to blog. It is such a bummer because I feel like this is an awesome memory keeper... and by the time I get things posted, I forget the special little details. I've got to get better...
We had a fun Easter this year. Ruston was old enough to participate in some of the fun activities that go along with the holiday. I'm disappointed to report that we didn't even make it to church on Easter Sunday. I say disappointed, because I've always wanted to make sure that my kids understand the true meaning behind these special days. I feel like this year I got so wrapped up in the fun I wanted Ruston to have, that I forgot all about the most important parts. Note to self, got to do better!
Our first Easter celebration was the night before. We went to Danny's parents house and had an Easter egg hunt.
Ruston picked up a few eggs and put them in his basket, but he was definitely more interested in throwing them on the concrete and laughing when they would bust open.
Here he is about to let one fly. :)
Hanging out with Dad.
We celebrated Amanda's birthday that night too. It was my first time making a homemade chocolate cake...it turned out pretty good!
Easter morning, we got up and went to see what the Easter Bunny left. Ruston got a Cars basket with some Elmo Easter books, some Cars tub toys, his own set of noisy keys, and a few snacks.
Next was his indoor egg hunt. We set them up all over the living room and then in a trail into our bedroom.
The trail ended at his swimming pool which is now filled with balls! He had a great time playing in them at Mason's birthday party, so I've really been wanting to get him some. We grabbed a little plastic slide that he goes down into the balls.
I love watching these two. :) Oatmeal for breakfast in the recliner!
That afternoon, we headed out to Danny's Nana's house. Ruston still has a great love for tractors, so we took a little ride.
He had a blast on the porch. He would run from end to end trying to swat catch butterflies.
He spent a little time swinging with Nana.
Kathie and the kids...
As we were leaving, poor Danny got ambushed. And being the great wife that I am, rather than warn him about what was headed his way, I got my camera ready. :)
Amanda got him with the confetti eggs and Dallas was all over him with the water gun.
Of course, he had to get a little revenge. :)
Overall, it was a fast, but fun-filled weekend. And just for grins, check out my terrified child with the Easter Bunny!
