Halloween-y Fun!

We've had all kinds of fun this Halloween.  Danny and Ruston started playing dress up with the "hats" the weekend before Halloween.
On Tuesday, my dad and brothers came over to carve pumpkins.  My dad ended up spending most of the time cleaning the pumpkins out.
My dad eventually convinced Ruston to feel the inside of the pumpkin.  He wasn't a fan. :)
He was much happier just coloring on his pumpkin.
 Andrew carved a ghost.
Adam spent hours (yes, hours!) working on a skeleton.
Our finished products! I made Ruston a tractor (of course), and the silly face.

That Thursday, Ruston's Mothers Day Out program had their Halloween "party."  They dressed up and walked through the halls showing off their costumes.  He was Lightening McQueen that day.

This weekend, Ruston and I worked on a craft for Danny and all the grandparents.  It took both days to get it all done! We started out Saturday morning with some handprint spiders.
Saturday evening, we gave them some googly eyes.
I was initially just going to draw a spider web for him to put his spiders on, but I really wanted the project to be more his.  So I ended up spray painting some paper plates black. (Bad idea, by the way...they still smell 3 days later!)  Then I let him sit in the bathtub Sunday morning and paint some spiderwebs.
We added a "Happy Halloween" tag and they were done! He was so proud of them.

I found these cinnamon rolls at HEB...they have orange Halloween icing!  We enjoyed them Sunday morning before our attempt at going to church. (We didn't make it. :/)

My Dad and Melinda invited us to their church's Halloween carnival on Sunday afternoon.  Amy and I took the kiddos and they had such a great time!  They had a duck pond, bounce houses, a hay ride, balloon room, cookie walk, and a free spaghetti dinner.
Ruston was a character at the carnival. While we were waiting in line at the chicken toss, I kept telling him we waiting his turn to throw the chicken.  When we got up to the bucket, instead of aiming for the opposite bucket, he just grabbed a chicken and threw it into the ground. haha.  He eventually got the point and threw towards the bucket. :)  Then at the cookie walk, he made his own rules.  While the other kids walked around the parachute on the numbers, he chose to run in a circle in the middle of the parachute. :)
On the way home, Amy treated us to Starbucks.  My coffee was delish and the kids enjoyed their chocolate milk.

Since Halloween fell on a Monday, we were kind of in a rush to get dinner cooked and eaten, get dressed, and get out the door.  We had time for some fun Halloween food though...skeleton cupcakes and mummy dogs!

My little pirate was so excited to get some candy! We just went around our block and then headed back to hand out treats to our visitors.
He did so good! There were a few houses that spooked him...he's say "I scared."  But for the most part, he walked up to the houses and knocked on the doors.  He's say "chick a cheat" over and over until the put the candy in his bucket or hand.  Then he'd immediately turn around and say "tank you" as he walked off.  Sometimes we'd get him to tell them "happy ween!"
Pops was at our house when we made it back.
 Showing off his loot! :)
