Chicken Fried Water, anyone?

We went into Target tonight for some last minute Halloween shopping.  I was browsing the $1 section and found this really cute cup.  Ruston loves pretending to drink from "big people" glasses, so I thought I'd get him his own to start trying out.

Our first attempt went a little like this....

I don't want any more of my chicken fried steak. I'm going to put it all in my cup holder.

Awesome cup! I'll put my steak in here!

Oh! There's actually something to drink in this thing!

Shucks, I dumped it all over myself.

Hold on, this is really cold!!

I liked putting the steak in here better than drinking from it.

Oh, that piece looks good.

OK, I'll try one more time.

Nah, I'll just eat my steak.

The Beach Room

This week's topic: Guest Rooms

I absolutely love our guest room.  Danny and I actually slept in here for about a month when we were first sleep training Ruston.

We got married on the beach and spend a lot of time there, so I really wanted to do a beach theme for the guest bedroom.  It is the only room that we painted when we moved in.

The furniture is from Rooms to Go Kids.  We wanted something off white and it was the best option (and cheaper!).  All of the pictures on the wall are either from Bed, Bath and Beyond, Garden Ridge, or Hobby Lobby.

The lamps are what originally came with our black bedroom furniture, but the match well in here.

The bedding and pillows are from Bed, Bath and Beyond.

Other side of the room..

The picture on the left is one of our wedding pictures and the one on the right is an engagement pic.  The big vase filled with shells is part of the decoration from our wedding.

The bed's headboard has a bookshelf built in.  It's perfect for some of the extra frames I have.  The beach decor is all so cute, I have a problem with saying no! :)

I got this little table at Kohl's for $15.  It's got different colored shells on the top.  The picture is from our rehearsal.

More of the insane amount of beach decor....The boxes are from Michael's, the frame is Ruston's first time sitting in the sand, the picture book is all of our wedding pictures, and the sand is from our "unity" ceremony.

These are sitting on top of our TV.  They were our cake toppers.

The guest room is open if you ever want to visit! :)

This weekend we...

...went to the Hogeye Festival.  The past couple years I have found some really great Christmas gifts.  This year, not so much.  Ruston was more interested in his daycare book than the animals in the petting zoo.

I did get a few things.  I found this cute cross carved into a stone and put it out in the front flower bed.

This little handmade stocking was only $5, so I couldn't pass it up.  I wanted to put a little tree and stocking in Ruston's room, so this will go in there.

We headed into town for some errands afterwards and felt the need for cheeseburgers. :)

Our errands consisted of going to the mall to get my phone fixed, finding something to go on the wall in our living room from Hobby Lobby, getting Ruston a Halloween costume, and cutting his hair for the first time.  You know how many of those things we accomplished?

NONE!

The Apple store required an appointment and they didn't have another one for 2 hours.  Danny and I finally found something we agreed on for the living room, but what we liked wasn't on sale.  And I just don't buy things from Hobby Lobby that aren't on sale.  They'll be half off in the next 2 weeks, so why not wait a little longer? :)  The costume choices for baby boys are horrendous.  We could choose between a monkey, Pooh, Tigger, or a spider.  Yeah, I don't think so.  And the haircut?  I just couldn't do it. haha. We went by 2 different places, but I wasn't able to do it. Someday. :)

So we got a whole lot of nothing accomplished and just went home to play with tractors!

Do you think he has enough tractors??

Sunday we went to a Scentsy party over at Melanie's house.  She got him all hopped up on Whip cream!

With all that whip cream, we had to be sure to brush!

Ruston's Room

This week's topic: Children's Rooms

This is what you see from Ruston's doorway.  The walls were this color when we moved in.  We considered painting it a light blue for the "sky," but I'm glad we didn't, because the wall stickers wouldn't look as good.  We took some of the extra wall stickers and put them on the back of the crib.  The furniture came from JCPenney.  When I found the set, I was really excited about it because I loved the color and it was a great price.  But when it was delivered, I realized why it was such a low price.  Each piece had some kind of scratch, dent, or chunk missing from it.  Pretty disappointing.  But we've worked with it. :)  The glider came from Target.com.  The letters for his name were on clearance at Hobby Lobby.

Ruston's closet.  I love all the accessories that match his bedding.  The diaper holder and hamper are a great addition to his room and we use them non-stop.  We ordered all the bedding accessories off Amazon. com, so we could order just the things we wanted.

The changing table and dresser.  The baskets have really worked out great for holding diapers, wipes, lotion, and Desitin.  We haven't done anything to the wall other than adding the one picture.  I'd like to add some pictures of Ruston eventually.  We just haven't found anything that would match great so far.

Before Ruston was able to grab and throw things, his bookshelf was so cute and organized. :)  Since then, it has become more baby friendly.  He grabs and returns books whenever he wants to.

I think his mobile is precious! He would lay under it and watch it for 30-45 minutes when he was younger.  It's not hanging anymore, but I had to show it to you anyway.

I'm so pleased with Ruston's bedding.  Everything that I was initially finding was airplanes along with helicopters, cars, boats, etc.  When I found this, I was so excited, because it's exactly what I wanted.

Love his lamp.  He does too.  He likes to spin the prop.

This frame was a decoration at one of my baby showers.  We put the picture of Ruston getting his hearing checked in it, because it looks like he's wearing headsets. :)

Ruston likes sitting in his little chair, but he won't stay there long!  This pilot bear is a Build-a-Bear that Danny made for me one Christmas when we were dating.  It works perfectly in Ruston's room.

13 Months!

This sweet boy is 13 months old!

He seems so big now.  He walks EVERYWHERE.  And he's getting fast! He's able to stand up on his own, without pulling up on anything.

He's turning into a climber. :/  He can get onto his cars now, but he is also trying to climb onto the fireplace and into the bathtub.  He gets that leg up high!  Amy caught him STANDING on top of chairs twice on Tuesday.  Crazy boy.

He is a button pusher! Ruston LOVES pushing the buttons on his toys, the TV, the remotes, and our phones.  He also likes to push the light switches on and off!

Two new teeth broke through yesterday, so he's now got 2 on bottom and 2 on top.  He still eats everything under the sun.  He is weaned completely onto whole milk and sippy cups now.  No more nursing, no more formula, no more bottles.  We made the transition really slow, so we really didn't have any problems with it.

His sleep is still "decent."  He goes to bed between 9 and 10 and wakes up a couple times during the night before getting up for good between 5 and 6.  Someday we'll sleep again....someday. haha

He looks like he's getting a little taller.  Jeans that used to be WAY too long are fitting well now. He got lots of new clothes for his birthday, so I'm looking forward to putting him in some of them soon! :)

Still no words, but he has his own language.  The other day he threw something off his highchair and Diesel didn't see it right away.  He leaned over and "spoke" to him in his little language.  As soon as Diesel walked over and grabbed the food, Ruston sat back up and continued with his lunch. :)

The Big Top!

Well, sort of. haha.  Last Thursday, a little traveling circus came to Manor.  Amy and I took the kids and had a good time.

The kids were having fun in the backseat.  Except my son, of course, who can't look at me without whining. lol

The first thing we did was hit the pony ride.  McKenzie had it down.

Tyler wasn't really into it...he'd much rather be going down the huge blow up slide!

Ruston was so tense the whole time. ha! He wouldn't put his arms down!!

Once we got inside the tent, the circus clown entertained us.

This little guy did awesome.  The whole first half of the circus he just sat in my lap and stared at everything going on.

This is the only picture I have of Amy and her two kiddos! McKenzie was totally into the circus and wouldn't turn away.

There was a lion and 2 big tigers.  They were all in the cage together with one man...so scary!

Amy and I

The unicycle family.  You know, it was so interesting....
The girl that was running the pony ride was the same girl that hung from the ropes at the top of the tent and rode on the unicycles.  The girl and boy in charge of the slide were the hula hoop girl and the juggling guy.  It was neat to see them doing so many different jobs.  It was kind of strange at the same time though, because they seemed so young. We were wondering how they got any type of schooling since they are constantly traveling and working.

In front of the circus sign at the end! I was really surprised with the whole thing.  We went in with pretty low expectations, but came out impressed! :)
