New Year Happenings

We kept ourselves busy for the last few days of Christmas break.  I finally got to see Scott and Rebekah's new house.
We went over for a playdate with all the kiddos.
They have a great playroom upstairs that the kids LOVED.

I had a goal for the break to do a little organizing.  We waited until the last minute, but at least we got it done!  Ruston was quite the helper when we were working on his room.
We started by dumping all of his toy buckets on the floor.  They were all mixed up and you'd have to dig through each tub to find a specific toy you were looking for.
Once the buckets were all empty, we started filling them back up. :)
We sorted them based on what kind of toy they were.  See those on the floor behind the baskets? Those would be the ones I was hiding and then secretly disposed of. Oops!
I took pictures of a few toys from each basket and will eventually put them on the front of the baskets so he knows which toys are where.

Next up was the craft/catch all closet.  Check out this ridiculousness.
I got some cheap baskets from the dollar store and sorted away.  Ahh, that's better. :)

Kenzie had her 5th birthday party at the skating rink in Bastrop.  It was Ruston's first time on skates.  It didn't last long! haha
He wasn't a fan of the wobbles.  So he spent most of the time pouting in my lap.  Side note: Check out the girl about to eat it in the background! Ouch!!
Happy 5th birthday, Sweet girl!!

We got Ruston a twin bed in hopes that he would want to sleep in his room at night.  He got some cool Avengers sheets and a Captain America buddy to sleep with.  So far, they have not worked. :/  But we're going to have a "sleep in your own bed" bootcamp this summer. :)

Diesel likes to play cars with Ruston.  Or at least, that's what Ruston says.

Danny used all of his Amazon cards that he got for Christmas and bought a big tent.  On the last night of Christmas break, we thought it would be fun to set it up and go camping in the living room!
The tent was a little bigger than we thought!  We had to move both couches out of the way and it went all the way up to the fan!  It has 2 "rooms" in it.
We put the air mattress in the "bedroom" and left the "living room" empty.
It was big enough to run in circles,

have some microwave s'mores,
and play Yahtzee!
It was so much fun that we ended up leaving it and sleeping in it for 3 nights! :)

Danny had a night off during the week, so we took Ruston bowling in Bastrop.
Check out these kicks!
The little ramps they have for the kids are perfect.  He could do it all on his own.
Yes, my 3 year old son beat me. :)

This little buddy is having some skin issues.  Hope they get cleared up soon!

There was a little circus at the Cedar Park Center.  I was expecting it to be kinda cheesy, but it was actually just as good as the Ringling Brothers.  Maybe even better.  Ruston's favorite part was the motorcycles in the round cage.

Adam turned 28 this year!  Drink up, old man! :)

Dallas turned 21!

Ringing in the New Year

We celebrated New Year's Eve at Amy and Jason's house this year.  It's so nice to be able to get together and have fun with all our kids.  They will grow up with some awesome memories!!

Pinterest makes things so easy for me! I was in charge of kid entertainment and found the cutest ideas.  I printed out little cards with activities for the kids to do each hour.  I rolled them up and stuck them inside a balloon, labeled with the time.
Each hour, Tyler would pop the balloon and read out what they were supposed to do.
The first hour's activity was to open up a box filled with coloring supplies!

We took tons of pictures.  Have to document this stuff!  How sweet are these kids?!  Blythe gives the best hugs and look how gentle Kenzie is with Miss Adelie.  Any my child is obviously the best at keeping pictures from being too serious. ha!

Another of the balloons directed the kiddos to create a "Friendship Craft."
We painted each of their hands and put their prints onto a canvas.
The boys weren't much help for this project....
They turned out perfect.  And it looks so cute on Ruston's dresser!

Next up was the infamous Minute-to-Win-It Oreo game!

And then.... Wii Just Dance competition.  I still say it was completely unfair to put me with the "Dancehall Doctor" on the first round! :)

The kids were definitely the stars of the competition!

The next balloon led to opening a box full of picture props!  Too much fun!

Sparkler time lasted for about 3 minutes... it started raining!
We moved it inside to watch the daddies set off the rest of the fireworks.

The last balloon activity was a box of New Year's goodies! Horns, hats, and whistles, galore!
Happy New Year!!!!
